Well, that time is vastly coming, so it's time to divulge our Summer Plans...
Every summer we try to work on a large section of the site, in the past this has been vast code cleanup, new systems, etc.
This year, we'll be working on something a little bit different...
Most of you where planning to hear me announce that we where making plans to go forward on Dot Slash Hack, a video and text zine; however, this project will be pushed back (note that the design is about done, the domain is secured, so it's just waiting on time).
Instead, we'll be working on Go *nix, a resource dedicated towards helping users migrate from Microsoft Windows to Linux or Unix/BSD. The domain name has been finalized as GoNix.org and we've been working hard on the backend since project inception (ok, so I just thought to push forward with it this month).
This project will take some time to get rolled out and going, but my goal is to have a resource which will: 1. Allow users to quickly identify alternative software to Windows titles that they cannot live without while publicizing popular open source alternatives. 2. Allow users to have a resource of "new users to *nix" articles to help them navigate something that they may or may not be completely virgin to. 3. Help demystify *nix, a lot of distributions are simple to install and use for new users, and hardware driver issues on some system are a vast thing of the past.
I plan for the new site to be both xHTML and CSS valid like all of my designs; however I'll be ensuring Section 508 compatibility.
I haven't yet looked for assistance on the project, but I am open to any ideas from anyone who has input for the project.
Well, that's it for not, I hope that you all look forward to this project as much as I have.

I've gone ahead and upgraded the Gallery script we've been using here; some user accounts have been having issues logging in (mine in particular) so if you have any problems, please either Email me or PT me on the forums and I'll try to fix it .

I've spent some time today touching base with how the review system outputs data, specifically with different types of reviews and their relation to what displays genaricly.
I've added some subsets to the code that will differenciate on different sections on weather you're looking at a video review, or software...
Basically, you won't see a price of $0 on a video review, or a delivery method, as these are for product reviews. Instead, you'll just see what pertains to the section you're in (director instead of producer, etc).
I've also made it so the "body" of the review shows under the ad, it should help with visual real estate and give you more room to more easily view the review. The other sections of the review will continue to be to the right of the page advertisement.

We've updated our archive of the K-1ine zine to include all of the new issues (the latest we had was #45 whereas they where up to 51).
Additionally, we've added both Phrack and K-1ine to the new archive system and will be updating any site links to reflect this change.
We still have a couple of things to move from the old archive before we purge it from the server, at this point I think we'll just lock the old archive to force users to use the new one as it's more secure and fits into the site design...

I'm running some server updates; this includes:
Scripts: AWStats to 6.9
Server: CentOS 5.3 PHP to 5.1.6
We've also uninstalled all instances of WordPress due to security concerns.
