I'm really to lazy to go around and look into the subject on my own so i am asking if anyone knows; is there any way for a server to log what files each computer in the network opens, edits, changes. I think the answer would probably be yes.... but I'm checking anyway and since there is a large amount of traffic on the network is there anyway to make this kind of program efficiently

could anyone help me out here

Yes. Depending on the server. You can also go ahead and audit according to user, computer, directory, specific files, etc. on WIndows 2000 Server I know.
