bought the compaq presario 700 laptop duron 1.0, 256 ram upgradable by 128 more, dvd, 20gb hd, etc. last night, today the battery won't hold a charge. tech support is nice and is sending a new one, even though after i got off the phone with them my old one started to charge, so we'll see. good price but a lil sketchy. i'll keep ya posted

nice, other than the fact its a compaq, ha. My desktop is a compaq.... i stripped it and put in my own parts.. runs 100000x better. Compaq cant build a quality computer. Ive been through 2... they suck as ive found out.

old specs:
750mhz AMD Athlon
64mb sdram
16mb vid
generic pos sound card
8x dvd (i think)
4x cd writer

Now:
750Mhz amd Athlon
512mb sdram
64MB AGP Radeon VIVO
SoundBlaster Live 5.1 + MP3
12x DVD
12x HP cd writer

works 10x better now

did i mention it came with windows ME, hahahaha. Running win2k now.

hey, thats not fair. Just cause u put better parts in it doesent mean it sucks. It just means you bought an outdated comp. In my experience, COMPAQs can take one hellz of a beating and still keep going. So show a little respect f00z.

sure compaq might have parts that last but they arent quality products thats for sure... i have an old Packard Bell from 1997 and it still runs fine... but the parts are [censored], they was [censored] when i got it and they still are [censored].
