Following a continuing uproar over its copy protection software featured on its CDs, Sony BMG announced that production on CDs containing the technology will be temporarily suspended, despite the company allegedly believing it is in the right.

The statement announcing the suspension read: We also intend to re-examine all aspects of our content protection initiative to be sure that it continues to meet our goals of security and ease of consumer use." The software works only with Windows.

The suspension comes after computer security firms announced several viruses that were exploiting the software's ability to install hidden files onto a PC [SN reported].
