Most cable companies are feeling the pressure from law makes to move to an “a la cart service”, or a service where you only get the channels you sign up for. This would help parents’ better control what their children watch on TV.

AT&T is the first company to publicly express a willingness to try this style of service. "If consumers want a la carte programming, we will be happy to offer it, so long as we are able to obtain access to the programming in that manner," said AT&T.

The National Cable & Telecommunications Association would not comment on the AT&T statement but they did say the government should not interfere with programming contracts.

Fianlly!!!

I do not have to pay for 5 shoping channels, 3 golf channels, 50 music channels, 4 Liftime man hater channels, 3 MTVs, or 50 news channels. I want to pick what I want and order just that. Even better would be an ondemand based service, no channels per say but pay per program service.
