Despite the success of online poker, U.S. law enforcement officials continue to try to stamp out online gambling. Their new strategy is to target companies they accuse of ‘aiding and abetting’ gambling operations.
Recently federal marshals seized $3.2m from the Discovery Channel who had received the money as payment for TV commercials for the popular poker site Paradise Poker.
Some legal experts have criticized the tactics since the businesses they target in the US are legitimate, and the online casinos are licensed and legal in the countries they are operated from.
