The Chamberlain Group, which makes garage opener devices, sued Skylink Technologies for selling a universal garage door opener. Chamberlain said it violated the Digital Millennium Copyright Act DMCA since Skylink's remote worked with their software.
Chamberlain says its software had a technology protection measure and Skylink was bypassing this by cracking it. The technology protection measure consisted of rolling code. Judge Rebecca Pallmeyer has ruled against Chamberlain in this matter.
