Firstly you are talking about two separate network services which a SP can have loaded for you on your package. They may be mandatory or optional and they may have additional charges depending on the package. They may not allow the service on certain packages. Depends on the Network. The two services are sometimes referred to as CLIP and CLUR. CLIP stands for Call Line ID Presentation. CLIR - Call Line ID Restriction. Basically you need to have CLIP activated on your phone to identify incoming calls. But a person can still prevent there number from showing if they wish by using CLIR on all or just some of their calls. So even if you have clip, if the call comes from someone who has activated CLIR there is nothing you can do. As for contacting the cellular company (your service provider) I doubt you will get much joy from the call centre. They will most likely only be able to tell you what numbers you have dialled out not what numbers have dialled in. For dialled in numbers you will need the Network itself and they are not just going to hand the info over. Unless you are paying for the call (Reverse billing) then they wont give it to you. If you do have to pay for received calls then it should be displayed as a on line item on your itemised invoice. If you have pre paid then you have even less chance of getting the number from either your SP or the network. Prepaid calls are not rated or stored.

When I worled for Nextel, I was constantly (along with everyone else on the floor) giving out the numbers of people who called in. And you would be wrong that with pre-paid the numbers are not store. They are.
Try working for a cellular company and see how much more ur IQ goes up. Nextel, BoostMobile, and Verizon (I've worked for all of them) store the incoming calls in their billing system. With BoostMbile they do this as a way of being able to verify you. Their system also shows weather u used the direct connect or the phone itself to talk to the person and for how long.

In my situation the prepaid calls are not stored. The pre paid bundle sits on the switch and depletes as calls are made. The pre paid MSISDN is in the billing system as is the SIM but the calls made to it are not stored because of storage costs and the fact that pre paid users dont recieve an invoice so there is no need. If we ever needed to check the prepaid info we would need to look on the gateway itself not the retail billing system. The CDR files we process are purely for post paid subscribers only so only those files are rated and stored. As for just handing out numbers to anybody that calls in and ask I hope those companies you worked for are aware they are opening themselves up to all sorts of legal issues. Some users have unlisted number for a reason you know. We do not give out user information to anyone unless they have a warrent.

hey guys. i was wondering if someone could help me. i got 2 prank calls on my cell phone and i am pissed about them. they sounded like two young immature little kids laughing. they just really pissed me off. of course they must have used the *67 feature because the number came up as "private number". i was wondering if there is any way of findind out what the number is. the *69 feature doesnt work, and i tried calling my cell phone company, but it shows up as "private number" on their computers as well, and the prankers never left a voice mail either so that is out of the question. does anyone know any other way that i can prepare of this next time? like is there a way that i can have my phone connected to my computer/laptop and when they call, trace the call and find out the number and were they are calling from. i guess that is something similar to what police do but whatever.
