Kinda hard to use a PCI/ISA modem to scan when its wanting to use com1 which is a serial port
Not quite, COM1 is I/O address 3F8 and IRQ 4, while a serial port is a 9 or 15 pin DB connector on the back of most of our PC's that accepts data in serial form. They are not nesicarily the same thing.
Yes, I'm being anal, but I have a couple ISA modems that can very easily be set to COM1, COM2, or even COM3 or COM4. (yes, I know COM3 is the same as COM1, likewise with COM2 and COM4)
