The US the government has announced in a report that from the period 1992 to 2002 the number of people seeking help for marijuana abuse has almost tripled in the US.

A spokesman for the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy told reporters “This report is a wake-up call for parents that marijuana is not a soft drug ", he also stated that the problem is bigger than people think.

Those pushing for its legalization dismiss the report saying that those seeking treatment for marijuana were only doing so to avoid prison and that the increase is in fact in marijuana related arrests not in those seeking help by themselves.

This is really screwy stuff here. Drugs are illeagle. People get arrested for drugs. People opt for drug conseling to get lesser jail time or fines. This number is collected and used to make strickter laws and therefor more arrests. An snow ball cycle.

Any scientific study will show marjuans affects on scociety are much less the liquor. Yet Liquor flows freely and weed is illeagle. Want to know a secret? The liquor industry is one of the hardest fighters of keeping weed illeagle.

I do not like weed by the way. I think it causes people to become complaicent and waste time. But if you are goig to release a study and use its data to affect laws for scociety... At least make sure the shit is done right.

But that would make too much sence for our government to do something right. It's the American way to half-ass things and use/administer studies incorrectly
