This is complete and utter crap. The U.S wouldn't go to war with another country before ending the 1st 2 it started in Afghan and Iraq while its own citizens feel unsafe in their own streets.

I feel perfectly safe in my own streets as does absolutely everyone I know personally.

i wish i could feel safe and compaired to most other places portland is fairly safe but you wont catch me walking around at night without being armed...

I work in Washington DC, take the metro every day. I see national guard with M-4 assult rifles in the metros, I see bomb sniffing dogs, I see mirrors to look under cars for bombs.

I do not feel safe. Yes they are doing all this stuff. But they are doing it because there is a danger. It is allways easiest to be the 1 man sneaking past hundreds than the hundreds looking for 1 man.

Personally I always carry a knife and have been trained properly on how to use one. I believe its wise to carry a gun at night. However both are security blankets. My knife won't do me a hill of beans worth of use if the assailant has a gun, nor will the gun be of use if they have a bomb.

I am 10X more concerned about everyday rapes murders and muggings then I am of a terrorist threat.

True there are paranoid americans! True true true. Personally I carry a knife with me everywhere I go, not just at night but daytime as well. For me its gotten second nature kind of like putting on my shoes.

I do believe in justified paranoia! The facts are simply that bad things happen. I would rather have a knife and not need it then to need one and not have it. I go out at night often and never feel threatened. However the day I do feel threatened I will have with me more then my words hands and feet. as long as thats not the day I forgot to carry the damn thing. lol

it's not a matter of paranoia but the fact that in some places it's juts not safe anymore. when i'm downtown at night i have to be very careful just for the fact i'm a female. at least once a week i hear on the news of a women being assulted and it's getting to the point were these sick fucks are doing it during the day instead of waiting for nice. for my own safety i must be careful and be on alert and make sure i have something on me that can do enough damage for me to be able to get away. i would fater all would like to see mine and gizmo's son grow up.

Then you guys should come to Australia. The government pays your uni fee's until you have a job to pay them yourselves, we have free health care and its safer all round. Plus we have like the room. I mean we are just as big as mainland USA but with like 20 mil ppl.
