at my school, they are offering java for the first time, and even though we are 2 weeks into the year they are yet to have it working correctly. right now they have it so that from anywhere on the C: drive you can type in javac or java to compile or run a java program. however, when you navigate to a drive not on the computer such as the public or user drive, neither java nor javac will work. my only guess is that when you are on the other drive it looks for javac and java on that drive and not C:, any ideas on how to make it work properly would be helpful.

Depending on OS edit the path. Can be done in either the system settings of windows or else autoexec.bat I believe. And that should work regardless of if you are running something from a mapped harddrive, a floppy, a hard drive, or whatever.
