I'll do one on HTML/Web Design - but I also think this could be a team project. I'm not amazing at web design, but I do know my HTML and CSS. Maybe if someone wants to email me stuff they think I should include, I can look over a list of keywords/phrases someone thinks is important and do a google on each of them?
I could also do one on the following topics: - User/Pass authentication - Intro to networking - mySQL & Stuff - Setting up a website (hosts, ftp, troubleshooting)

Hacker culture history? Man, hell no. What kind of lecture would that be? No real questions can be asked, who would learn anything they couldn't by reading a short text. IMO, that's information (not the word I'm looking for, but you get the picture), not knowledge. These lectures should be imparting knowledge, where the lecture format is helpful.
Just my 2 cents.

Those are definitely things people whould know, but I see absolutely no reason why it should be done in lecture format.
Again, it's not something that leads to many good replies or questions, like other topics are.
As a text it's a great idea, as a format it's shity

I'd have to side with TBG on this one.
I don't care who mitnick is, to me he's an a-moral loser who got caught (and yeah, I read both sides of the story)
LOD was nice, but that's the 80's bud, this here is the fuckin' new millenium.
If anyone wants to read about that crap, read cyberpunk, the cuckoos egg, good books like that that impart little knowledge (well, the cookie recipie from the cuckoo's egg was fantastic...BUT!)
Just my 2 cents also.
Limit lectures to TECHNICAL TOPICS.

ya, the HTML/WebDesign topic is HUGE. We really should specialize on a specific area when giving a lecture. We don't want these things pages long. However, you may give a series of related lectures to cover an entire broad topic. And as Scallion said - you may collaborate. More than one person can contribute with this series of lectures. Also, another way to collaborate is that several people submit their material to a single person who compiles it into a comprehensive lecture - again REMEMBER to keep a lecture from being too long - it encourages people to read it. heh, and although it's not a requirement, I really hope the person who "publishes" a lecture has some english class background for writing structure. And the votes should be done in polls. Otherwise, you just get a mess of opinion. And keep the topics in those polls specific. But I agree with Learner in how the lecture can be put into their proper forum until we get a dedicated forum. A dedicated forum is better cause we don't want to have to search for those lecture gems in the mass of a particular forum. We want it to be consolidated.
