Webmasters need to protect web pages from being deleted or modified by hackers. Myself I enjoyed BestCrypt by Jetico (www.jetico.ca); it creates a 'virtual container' which is encrypted through one of many many available encryption standards. This container can be at anytime "secured" and then transported off of your drive. you can "mount" this container as a "virtual disk" for easy maintenance.

This works like a PGPDisk however Jetico hasn't had issues with US Authorities which required "backdoors" for unlocking of containers.

I think it is a good idea, but if the size of files protected is very large, for example, 100M, 500M, 2G, how about the performance ?

Just be cool like me and use PGPdisk whole disk encryption. Then all encryption is transparent to you, and all of your huge files are safe and secure.

Your disk space must be not more than 10G, otherwise the encryption process will take you too much time.

The encryption process is transparent and isn't resource intensive. You can still use your machine while the drive is being encrypted, and you never have to encrypt the drive again once you've finished; PGP encrypts all new files.

You can make the volume any size you'd like, the benefit is it's transportable unlike ghost's PGPDisk all disk encryption wink ...

But just like Ghost's all disk encryption it encrypts files as you insert them into the archive (or disk).

I think PGPdisk is cool, but if somebody else delete the encrypted files, although he can not see the files but you can't see the files too.

You could do that with any file, encrypted or not.
