Hey you all,

Well your wondering why the nifty title, well its simple - I am listening to Digitally Imported the Radio Station and I was going through some sites that focus on education and security in general. Actually all sites were security related.

Now I went to the text section of some of these sites and I found some amazing amounts of work put into some of these texts. Some dedicated to technologies such as Protocols and others more Programming orientated.

Now I never realized how beautiful the Internet really is untill this moment, I dont know it just came to me that the Internet without all the bullshit (which u are free to ignore) is a wonderful place to be in or at. So many individuals intergrating their knowledge to aid others on the same path. I personaly find it fascinating.

I mean think about it, everyone takes the Internet for grantes, I know most of you wont remember but I do remember when you had to dial up to every BBS or Server that was meant to provide you with useful information. I remember the days of 89 and onwards, allthough I was still a little [censored] then and I really did not care too much I still shared a small interest about it all. And I remember being able to browse the first web pages. yeah web pages, with almost pure text content, hehe you imagine inserting an image in a 92-93 page? It was a dream.

Then came 94 with the Compuserv Graphics Interchange Format and a lot of other technologies, and the internet became a beautiful place to be at, the first real ISPs were poping up in the more developed countries like US, UK and Germany and everything just suddendly became a blow from there onewards. Things moved so fast I see it today and I realise that over the last 6 years things have changed so dramaticly on the net, technologies its really a wonder.

Who would have imagined listening to live broadcasted or even pre programmed radio over the net without interruoption of any kind?

Who would have thought that we would have web pages with such dynamic content that can even be measured to the power of 3D rendering these days?

Who would have thought?

I dont think many people really appreciate the internet and its people for what it really is, cause it really is an amazing place. Even without having to subract all the negative bullshit you still have an amazing place to be at.

I am amazed at the Internet!

thats my thought of the day! smile

The use of "hacker" to mean "security breaker" is a confusion on the part of the mass media. We hackers refuse to recognize that meaning, and continue using the word to mean, "Someone who loves to program and enjoys being clever about it."

I am one who has stepped back and had a look at what the internet has made possible. I haven't thought of it in such eloquent terms psychogen puts it, but what I thought was very simple. At anytime, I can learn anything I want. I can get any music or program or any software I want - for free, and with no wait period. I can even buy hardware and other physical items for much cheaper than I could otherwise.

And then there's the virtual society aspect. Just here at UGN in our little corner of the internet we have a social structure and hierarchy - even politics.

You can even take it a step further guys.

Think of it. You are part of a computer network to me. From my shoes I send you data through this BBS and you return data back to me. I am input, you are output. When you login to UGN or any other site you are by definition an element on a computer network.

You are a computer. You take input from the monitor and send output via Keyboard/Mouse/Microphone/Web cam, and what ever else you have.

You have input out put devices. You know how to search this data base called the net you are part of. You can add this data to your personal storage device. That could be your brain or hard drive.

You gather info from various places and deliver it in here upon user request.

Now that is a bit of a deep way of looking at it, but it is kinda true. The computers input devices are your output devices, or what your output devices interface with. And vice versa.

Now put that on the scale of the internet..... Pretty damn awsome.

Well humans created computers so the computer unless AI one day is nothing but a piece of furniture to aid you explore the world, like a TV but more complex and useful.
