prostitution is paying someone to have sex with you, and its illegal. but i was wondering why it is ok to pay a girl to make a porn video. essentially it is the same thing, paying her to have sex. just because it is filmed and sold makes it ok? anyone know the laws concerning this?

These two kids in my hall actually talked this over with a lawyer and found out what was up. Basically, this chick wants to make some money by whoring, and the dude is finding her clients. So he's pimpin her.
They found out that if each person involved in the act gets paid to do it, and it's filmed, then they're not engaging in prostitution, but are actually pornographic artists. So what he does is have both people pay him for "casting fees," then they have sex while he films it, then he gives the chick her cut of the money. The guy goes home empty handed - it's like an audition.
The problem is, in New York, you need a license to make money from pornos. His plan was to pimp this chick out and sell the videos online, but he needs a license to do that. For now, though, having both people pay for the casting fees then having an audition is perfectly legit. It's just if he wants to sell them online, he'll have to apply for a license.

would anybody here pay 4 sex? i think its a bit low... but its a matter of opinion. the video thing seems like a cool way to get around those laws.

gizzy: good motto. no one should have to pay for sex.. unless they are hideously ugly and deformed and or morbidly obese. and those are the people that should be committing suicide ahhhh

you pay because you fall under the hideously ugly and deformed category. time to find a knife and end your problems.

The question I pose is why is it illegal, for the most part, in the United states. I find it morally objectionable as I am sure the majority of American society, but that hasn't stopped the gov't from making things illegal or legal in the past. when looked at from an unbiased viewpoint it is two consenting adults having sex. I think the problem the federal gov't has is the money involved. There is really no good way to tax sex and prostitution apparently is an industry that has potential to make a massive sum of money. Would people have a different view point on the issue if prostitutes charged lets say $1?
