I havent seen any forums for people to talk about java. It might not be popular now but its a powerful program and people who want to program will most likely check it out. Just offer help and discuss java programming. Just an idea.

At any rate, might as well just post on my site. It's all dedicated to Java, so it fits there... I think Mornse and I are the only ones who do any Java here, and I believe he checks out my site periodically. So post there, we're affiliated anyway

Don't give up so easily! Java can be used to program stand-alone applications as well hehe...

It can be used for anything, really. I think it's greatest value is in Web Development, but not like applets and stuff. Server side applications. Portable, secure, fast, that's what businesses want and that's what Java can do. It works for desktop apps too, for example the vast majority of IDEs I've ever tried are written in Java, I just don't enjoy writing desktop apps all that much.

I agree with ya perg. Do you have info about SS applications on your site? I'm probably going to use PERL to do my personal scripts in the future as I am now. But PERL/CGI is just too clunky for web-based stuff IMO. Java is definetly a much better choice for WWW stuff.
oh btw, you're tut on methods is very good. but aren't what u call methods actually called functions. at least in other languages anyway. maybe i just mis-read.

I'll probably write a tut on JSP and Servlets over Spring break, so in two weeks. I'm workin on some big projects right now.
Methods in Java, functions in C/C++ (most other languages), subroutines in Basic. They're all the same, nobody cares.
