whats the difference bettween a 16 pin Dip and a 14 DIP?

I believe it's max channels and encoding differances...

Example, on 16 pin's, at least, the type will vary dependant on the class/manu, everythign will vary from channels (4 channels, 2 channels, 6 channels), leads, datacoding, etc
