When setting up every part of the new system here in the past years we were hoping for a site which could support itself. Yet when we look back at the amount that we've had to spend on site licenses, updates, hosting, etc. we are far from reaching this...

In order for us to make updates and have full time staff requires the funds to at least break even; we're not out to make a proffit, we're just out to make a place for everyone, not a hole in a wallet as we have been lately.

If every member of UGN Security donated even $5 per year we'd have $9480 which would cover every part of our bandwidth requirements, servers, events, licenses, etc.

We're not asking you to pay us to visit, we're asking that if you appreciate the site to make a small $10 donation when you can so we can stay around... The store and banners on the site don't bring in even $50 a year, which won't even cover an extension of the BBS software's license.

UGN Security's my baby, has been since the beginning, I loved this site so much that I ended up buying it because I didn't want to see it turned into one of those "popular search engines" :/...

but the price has gotten kinda heavy... $4000 for the site, hosting, license costs, server costs, etc... Thank god for SilentRage, Sin, and Infinite donating their BW for the IRC servers...

I made a small donation too cause I've been wit UGN Security for so long. if UBB is costin too much, maybe you should switch to open source, http://www.phpbb.com/downloads.php. That's a great board rite there, IMO it's better than UBB. well, good luck wit the site.

The BBS suite we have is the best out there, i've been helping at the project for some time and won't go to anyone. The BBS isn't the hassle, it's the majority of everything else...

For the BBS we can keep the same version for as long as we want; if you looked at the feature lists in each new version that are *stock* you'd probably end up creaming yourself...

So i got like a grand worth of stuff for like 150 bucks and i got plenty of cash. I'd like to thank everyone for their recent support, better late than never... We've been able to get the majority of our licenses updated (minus the jIRC which I'm awaiting a response from the author).

jIRC.... ummm Gizzy, Is that even needed? I mean honestly take jIRC down and put links up to mIRC, bitch-X and what ever other IRC clients you think are good.

You should drop jIRC and go with a free one man, The free ones may not be as pretty but who cares? The heavy users don't use the java applet anyway. Save some money, which is always good
