According to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, digital music sales have sky rocketed and that has has helped offset a decline in CD sales. The iPod has helped increase sales to $790 million in the first half of this year.
Apple Computer Inc.’s iTunes online music store is responsible for 82% of U.S. legal downloads. Pirated music online has been aggressively pursued by the recording industry, also, contributing to increased legal downloads.
