Holidayers in Australia are being warned that they should check all the fine print before booking a holiday online. Investigators will be researching hundreds of travel websites worldwide and test whether or not consumers are being duped.

Many sites do not state clearly enough that the price offered does not include tax, surcharges or insurance. In Australia alone, 100 sites are up for further scrutiny, including the possibility that they are breaking privacy laws.

Online holiday bookers around the globe are being advised to compare prices, check refund policies and investigate what is needed from you when subscribing to the site, among other safety measures.
