Pioneer 10, which was launched on a mission some 31 years ago, has lost contact with NASA, 7.6 billion miles away from Earth. Pioneer 10 is the first spacecraft to leave our solar system and is expected to reach Aldebarran in about 2 million years.
Pioneer 10 was originally set out on a mission that was due to last 21 months, way back in 1972. The final signal received from the craft was on January the 22nd and the final attempt to contact it by NASA was on the February 7th.
