A star, about the same size as our sun, has been caught in a deadly embrace with a black hole. It's being described as a 'David vs Goliath battle (but David looses),' by Gunther Hasinger, of the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics.
The phenomenom was discovered after a huge X-ray blast was emitted from the star over 700 light years from earth. The star was caught by the black hole after it strayed of its normal course.
What the black hole couldn't swallow, it spat back into space. It is estimated that an event like this happens once every 10,000 years in every galaxy. Source
