Canadian researchers have announced that there could be a SARS vaccine on the market as early as Autumn next year, meaning the vaccine had taken just 18 months to develop which is record time for any immunisation.

The researchers have already tested three different vaccines on rabbits and mice and are expected to move on to testing ferrets and primates soon. The government of British Columbia have contributed $2.6 million to the research.

The only other country who is keeping up with Canada in developing a vaccine is China, though they are only developing one vaccine and the methods there are highly risky, due to how contagious the virus is.
