Customer information data and other documents leaked from a FTP server belonging to Microsoft, that was apparently insecure. Reports say that 11 million customer email addresses and 7 million snail mail address were taken from it.
Those data were contained in files like email*.zip and dmail*.zip. These were protected by the same password, which was cracked by standard password cracking tools. Also Powerpoint presentations and other important files were snatched.
A security consultant for a German firm, says this was caused by poorly implemented security policy on the FTP server.
