Sony to Promote File-Trading Site
After suing Scour nearly to the point of bankruptcy, Sony Music has now decided to use the file-sharing service as a way to promote its artists.
Sony has worked out a deal with CenterSpan Communications, the company which is now running Scour, to allow free downloads of songs from Sony artists. This deal may advance legal file sharing.
File traders would be able to listen to the songs (on their computers only) for 30 days, after which point they would become inaccessible. They can also share them with friends, but to listen, the friends would have to register at Scour.
