Suggesting the possibility of a virus or related Internet attack, Google was unable to meet visitors' search requests for hours on July 26 and Keynote Systems Inc. reported a broad slow-down of Web site performance.
"It could be an indication that something is impacting the Internet overall," a Keynote spokeswoman said. "We are ... also looking into the possibility of some sort of attack."
Meanwhile, the SANS Institute cyber security organization released a statement saying the latest incarnation of MyDoom is causing Google's problems.
