Cisco's new Internet router, the CRS-1, became the first piece of networking equipment to be entered into the legendary Guinness book. The CRS-1 is capable of throughput at 92 terabits (trillions of bites) per second, making it the fastest router available.

When Cisco first unveiled the router, it was demonstrated that the unit could download the entire Library of Congress in 4.6 seconds. For perspective, this was compared to the 82 years it would take a dial-up modem.

"The reason we like this one is purely because of the numbers involved. The statistics about what this piece of hardware can do were really mind blowing." - David Hawksett, editor of science and technology for the book.
