It is looking increasingly likely that as part of a settlement in the 5 year long EU - Microsoft anti-trust case the US company will have to start selling an alternative version of the Windows operating system with uncompetitive features removed.

Audio and video software is likely to be the first to go if Microsoft are found to have been monopolising the market. Unless an early mutual agreement is struck soon the European Commission will impose changes and fines of $100 million or more.
