Whitehouse.com, infamous for being constantly visited by people expecting to see the US President but being provided with something completely different, is to close after 7 years trading.

The owner, Daniel Parisi, is quitting because he is worried what his pre-school son will think of his dad as he grows up. Parisi is also capitalising on the lucritive domain name market, as he owns more than 100 derivitives of the Whitehouse domain.

His business has had over $7 million invested in it since its launch in 1997, but many will be glad to see it go, not least the owner of food retailer Whitehousefoods.com, whose customers often get more than they expect if they mistype the address.
