Microsoft faces a record $613m fine from the European Commission. National competition authorities supported the record fine at a meeting yesterday.

Mario Monti, the competition commissioner said that the fine is in addition to his "remedies".

Microsoft intend to appeal the fine, saying it could not have known it was breaking EU competition law.
