So I see after all these years that this website is still the best out there. I used to post under a different name back in something like 2002-2004. I lost my info and changed emails so many times I can't even consider what my old account info was. SO ONTO MY IDEA.....:

Well after reviewing what this site entails (a bunch of fu*king geniuses) I think everyone here can help me. I would like to make a text messaging program. Now this program will do more than just one text message. I believe that it is possible to make the program send a constant flow of messages until the user commands it to cease.

Some of you may read this and wonder, why would we build this and how could it help or do anything constructive? If we so desired, we could set it to run on any cell phone we wished. To get outright diabolical... enemies. Obviously the gain on our part would be the knowledge that their text messaging fees would skyrocket.

Others of you may ask, how can we begin? Post if you are in and I can send you how to get some good program writing software. I don't think that this isn't something that a few people with knowledge of a programing code can't do.

As I type this, I am reminded of a program that was shut down because it was cheating big business. You can look it up since it will register on Google as TracFree. The problem with that one was that it would be illegal, but this idea however, is (and you can quote me on this) completely inside the lines.

the problem here is that all you have to do is choose delete all an you won't be charged... you're generally charged for reading, not receving.

Cingular charges to receive, which is really nice since they're going to start charging $0.15 a text message come 1/21/07 vs $0.10

That only applies to a few wireless carriers. I think T-Mobile, Tracfone, and Cingular are the only two I know of. But to counter this, just leave the program, running. No need to let up because their phone will be so flooded with messages, they won't be able to use it without another "message received" message popping up. Verizon (which supposedly boasts the biggest network and number of customers) does charge by the message. Sure it may be free for the first (increments of 250 for $5) number of messages you pay for, but after that it is ten cents each. If the program runs like I imagine it would (and when does it ever) it would send something like, (completely random number) 100 messages a minute give or take. A simple mouse click on the "start" button would send a constant flow of messages (maybe input into a text box or something) to the desired number. After a little while, they will have racked up charges that they won't believe. If you are feeling truly evil, you can simply leave the program running to render the phone useless.

Just a thought.

I'm sure they offer some sort of "message flooding" credit under abuse guidelines... I can't really picture one now adays not allowing some sort of Grey area for this...

This is true.

But about Gizmo's reply about message flooding, they can only apply that clause to flooding from another cell phone. A program created from the computer to text message a cell phone is a completely different thing since there are so few at the current time.

I believe that mailbombing cellphones over various carrier lines which would likely go over state lines would be more than a minor infraction; which would also be beyond the scope of what we'd publicly offer on this site.

Id rather ugn got approached by some cellphone company asking for a program to stop 'mailbombing cellphones'. Then again like sintax's conspiracy theory of 9/11, you could make a program to do evil and then come up with the cure. That way you get more $$$.

I had my phone send over 15 messages 2 years back and I thought it was just a cellphone malfunction. But the company refunded me.

They are generally really nice about refunding you for "abuse that is out of your control"
