well as far as COBOL goes im a total newbie to it and i mean total, since there isnt a programming forum im just gonna post here sorry if im wrong in doing so. Anyway what im wondering is...is there any special enviornment(like VB) you need to have to program in COBOL and if so whats it called, and can anyone recommend how to learn texts
im pretty much new to programming in genral just know a little VB
Sorry that I can't help you, but i think the Smart Cards section should be turned into an "Other" section for programming, or just one added. Just a suggestion though.
I believe you program COBOL for Mainframes. We have an AS/400 that we coded COBOL on in mainframe operations. COBOL and JCL is alot of fun and contrary to what some ppl may say, COBOL will be around for a very long time. As far as I am away though, COBOL doesn't run on a PC.
I think it runs on a PC very well. I will study COBOL in school next semester, so I wanted to get ahead of the rest so I d/l Fujitsu Cobol and started working. You can find it here .
