TOKYO (Reuters) - Sony Corp said it plans to launch a lighter version of its PlayStation 2 game console later this month, in a bid to drive sales of the seven-year-old machine heading into the crucial holiday season.

See, I think that until they can stop all development for the PS2 the PS3 will never live up... Doing stupid crap like allowing developers to still develop for the PS2 and still pushing out new "official" hardware while limiting backwards compatibility on the PS3 the PS3 will be no more than an over-glorified BluRay player...
