OK, I have read alot of files on network hacking and i have heard of Datapac, a network with little in the way of anti-hacking shit so I though this would be a good network to start on... but I have one problem, I can't connect to Datapac. My internet is a dial-up set up though Telus, do I have to create another dial location or what?

Never heard of Datapac. A quick search turned this up:

Quote:
Datapac Information System

If you have never used Datapac before, a useful way to get experience is to connect to the free "Datapac Information System". All of the general information that you might need is available in the "DIS", and connecting to it serves as an introductory tutorial on how to use Datapac. The Datapac destination address is "92100086" (or "92100086,B" to access the French-language version). Proceed as follows.

To find the telephone number to call, look up "Datapac public-dial ports" in the white pages of your city's telephone directory. If there are sub-entries, the relevant one is "Datapac 3101" or "asynchronous (ITI)". Put your modem or terminal-emulation software into "half duplex" mode. Dial the phone number that corresponds to the speed of your modem. When your modem tells you that the connection has been established, type three periods (...) and then press RETURN. Type the Datapac destination address and press RETURN. The Datapac Information System will respond with its "welcome" message and its main menu. Here is how it looked at the time this was written:

| WELCOME to the Datapac Information System.
|
| The DIS keeps you up on all the latest Datapac news and information free
| of charge. If you need Datapac assistance, simply call us on our Datapac
| Customer Assistance hotline 1-800-267-6574, Monday to Friday from 8:00am
| to 5:00pm Eastern Time.
|
| 1 DATAPAC NEWS !!! 56 KBPS RATES GO DOWN 53% !!!
| 2 DATAPAC OVERVIEW AND DOCUMENTATION
| 3 DATAPAC PUBLIC IN-DIAL TELEPHONE NUMBERS
| 4 DATAPAC OUT-DIAL PORT ADDRESSES (E.G. PC TO PC)
| 5 DATAPAC SERVING AREA TELEPHONE EXCHANGE (NXX) LIST
| 6 DATAPAC INTERNATIONAL
| 7 DATAPAC RATES/BILLING
| 8 DATAPAC NETWORK MESSAGES
| 9 SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE VENDORS
| 10 DATAPAC APPLICATIONS
| 11 DATAPAC TROUBLE REPORTING TELEPHONE NUMBERS
| 12 *** NEW PRICING EFFECTIVE JUNE 8/92 ***
|
| - Enter desired menu number at the DIS: prompt -
| Help - brief command list BYE - logoff Datapac Directory

To disconnect from the Datapac Information System, type "bye" and press
RETURN. To disconnect from Datapac, type "quit" and press RETURN.

The procedures for connecting to other Datapac collect-call addresses are identical.

And as a side note, if you are trying to get on this network to 'hack' it, you best not be connecting from where you live. That is the best way to guarantee you get caught. In all honesty, if you can't even figure out how to connect then you have no business try to mess with it.

I must agree with what Infinite said:

I speak from experience, I was caught.

Yeah, um, gonna close this. To protect you Go read the files section and ask some questions afterwards. Connecting is something basic, and that you ought to learn as you read some stuff. So... we help you if you help yourself.
