Datapac Information System
If you have never used Datapac before, a useful way to get experience is to connect to the free "Datapac Information System". All of the general information that you might need is available in the "DIS", and connecting to it serves as an introductory tutorial on how to use Datapac. The Datapac destination address is "92100086" (or "92100086,B" to access the French-language version). Proceed as follows.
To find the telephone number to call, look up "Datapac public-dial ports" in the white pages of your city's telephone directory. If there are sub-entries, the relevant one is "Datapac 3101" or "asynchronous (ITI)". Put your modem or terminal-emulation software into "half duplex" mode. Dial the phone number that corresponds to the speed of your modem. When your modem tells you that the connection has been established, type three periods (...) and then press RETURN. Type the Datapac destination address and press RETURN. The Datapac Information System will respond with its "welcome" message and its main menu. Here is how it looked at the time this was written:

That is the best way to guarantee you get caught. In all honesty, if you can't even figure out how to connect then you have no business try to mess with it.
