Lindows 4.5 Development Edition (full edition) free. It's a coupon which does work (I got the download free). The boxed set is also free but you pay shipping. If you're interested, even curious, get it! You can get the coupon from: http://www.nvu.com/landing_page.html This is the same Lindows that was being shipped on pc's from several major retailers who wanted to stear away from M$... It's going to be limited so if you want it, get it now before it's gone... | | | | Joined: Jun 2002 Posts: 207 Member | Member Joined: Jun 2002 Posts: 207 | i have a question. if lindows is based on linux, why can't people get it for free? is it not REALLY based on linux? or does it come with software which isn't free?//

SuSE for instance, they're software cost money because of thier installer, SaX, and YaST tools that they develop, that is what they are selling along with a couple free tech-support questions that you get coupons for when you purchase thier software. Also I believe Lindows was supposed to contain some MS libraries to allow for better working crossover software like wine or win4lin. You know that nothing comes for free from MS :p . I'm not really sure if they ever used the libraries or not. These are some of the reasons why linux distros can cost $$. | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 7,203 Likes: 11 Community Owner | OP Community Owner Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 7,203 Likes: 11 | yeh, get it while you can | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 860 Likes: 1 Der beltter | Der beltter Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 860 Likes: 1 | It's know to not be compatible with both my videocard and wireless adapter. I'm not sure but I thought I heard somebody telling me bout Wal-Mart selling Lindows. Which is supposed to look jus like XP, the the box and the logo similar to Microsoft. I don't know, maybe that was somethin else he was talkin bout.
I KNOW EVERYTHING. ASK ME.
