Earthlink has announced its new webmail service, which is built on the Laszlo platform, meaning it produces Flash-based applications. Rivals to the Enhanced Webmail service, Gmail, AOL and Hotmail, all use DHTML.

Webmail, generally, is slow and chunky and Earthlink is hoping to sidestep this problem by using Flash technology. John Folz, from Earthlink, said: "It doesn't behave like a Web page at all."
