TROY, Mich. -- Police believe one or two young men, possibly teenagers, are responsible for issuing obscenities and insults to customers at a Troy Burger King drive-through window.

Officer Describes What Hackers Are Telling Customers

"You don't need a couple of Whoppers. You are too fat. Pull ahead," Officer Gerry Scherlink said is an example of what the hackers are telling customers at the drive-through speaker.

The men are reportedly tapping into the wireless frequency at the restaurant located at 14 Mile and John R roads. Police believe the culprits are watching and broadcasting from close range.

The pranks began last week and continued until Tuesday, according to a Local 4 report. They reportedly occurred around 3 p.m.

Scherlinck said the men are telling customers who order a Coca-Cola that, "We don't have Coke." And when the customer asks what they do have, the hacker would say," We don't have anything. Pull ahead."

Editorial: So how do they know it was hackers and not disgruntaled employees... also why are the people being called hackers in the first place... God Bless America!

heh, well, with a ham radio, or a twoway [censored] with frequencies you can have lots of fun, but yes phreaking is closer, hacking does able to manipulating systems. But ppl know that wireless protocal is open as [censored], just like blue jacking(see bluejackq.com), I run a small wireless community, and keep up on [censored]. This is just a case of kiddies knowing they can use software to be idiots. How about you use that skill for real, that's like amature pranking. How about getting on the radio, pirate radio bands, stations, whatever. [censored] with [censored] the fcc will want to look into. That's what skill is used on, even if your a kiddie, doing kiddieish things, or whatever, [censored] there's MUCH better [censored] to do with toys.

As to the term hacker as they use it...the [censored] news...They use hacker more then any [censored] word out there, they say it more then bomb, or iraq, or [censored] president. Since the early 80's the community grew, and [censored] in the early 90's maybe late 80's(yes in the 60's-80's [censored] went on, but I'm talking the public starting to bleed into it, band wagon type [censored]), media has watched, and covered [censored]. The terror act, the computer crimes act. You know what I'm talkin about. Meh, who needs to talk this much about it though, so I shutup for now.
