The establishment of mass production fuel-cell technology as a means of vehicle power generation is probably not going to be in place until 2025, a decade further off than initially predicted.

The announcement was made at Dearborn's Automotive News World Congress by a Robert Bosch Corp spokesman, although manufacturer Delphi Corp. is optimistic of beating the new date by about 5 years if it uses alternative solid oxide fuel cells.

Fuel-cell technology uses the reaction between hydrogen and oxygen to generate electricity, with water being the only bi-product, replacing harmful exhaust emmissions.
