A Californian town has been put up for sale on eBay by its 83-year-old owner. The town Minkler, which has a population of 30, has been owned by Sylvia Ashcraft since she bought the General Store there in 1977.

Ashcraft's daughter said "She's 83 and had a health scare last year and we persuaded her that she can't work seven days a week in the general store anymore." It was Ashcraft's son who put the ad on eBay.

So far, the ad has attracted 20,000 visits from potential buyers. Minkler is selling for just US$600,000. The town consists of four buildings and Charlie Minkler, the founder's grandson, still resides there. He is 96.
