Microsoft executives have announced that the computer software giant will offer a comprehensive patch for its Internet Explorer next week. The patch is long in coming, finally plugging a hole that was exposed by hackers in June.
In early July, Microsoft offered a temporary fix for the problem, as well as a tool for cleaning out systems that could have been infected. Microsoft said back then that "We have people working around the clock on it."
Microsoft official Dean Hachamovitch said that "Users should have confidence that as long as they're running the latest browser with all the latest security fixes...they will have the most powerful and secure browsing experience."
