An Australian rugby enthusiast has said that he will fight the legal action taken out against him from fast food giant McDonald's which objects to the registering of the word "McBrat" used on his teams uniforms.

Lawyer Malcolm McBratney who personally sponsors the Brisbane Irish rugby union team says they used the word "McBrat" on the team uniforms because they couldnt fit his full name across the shirts.

A McDonald's spokeswoman said they had no objection to the use of the word however they did object to Malcolm McBratney registering the term as a trademark as it is not his full name.
