ahh someone please help me... i installed geforce2 mx400 PCI on my computer and my win2k wouldnt boot up. it freezes at the screen that says starting up, the one that comes before the actual desktop. ive tried booting to win 98 which i dualboot, and it works perfectly. one thing ive notice is that i can shutdown by pressing alt-f4 and then pressing enter (cause it stays at shutdown in that drop down menu) so which means the system isnt freezing its the video output...anyone have any ideas?? confused confused

is there a safe mode on win2k? if there is maybe you can boot to it and get updated drivers for win2k. <img border="0" alt="[Thumb]" title="" src="graemlins/thumb.gif" />

what are you doing running a geforce2?

You could go pick up a 64meg geforce4 mx for under $200 and when the geforce5 comes out, you could probably pick up the ti counterpart of the ge4 (128mg) for that ammount.

yes but safe mode isnt the issue cause ive even tried reinstalling 2k and upon initial boot up after all the setting up it does the same thing... and about the geforce4, i know its 200 for mx but for me money doesnt grow on trees and i had the geforce2 in one of my computers and i got a new one for that so i moved the geforce2 to the other computer.

/me shrugs

I have win2k and I have a geforce2 mx400 card, although it is AGP. I installed the drivers. I have no problems. The way that works is when I first loaded up Win2k the resolution was very poor and the colors very few and I couldn't increase them. After I installed the drivers the OS was able to communicate with the card so that the more advanced settings was possible.

i used to have a problem with my HP(w/ winME) and voodoo3 3000. It was a very good video card but with my HP i would always start the pc up and get a windows protection error. I sold it to my friend and he got the same problem ... then he upgraded the drivers.
