Freenet Anonymous P2P File Sharing may Defeat Legal System - 08/31/05 01:36 PM

The latest legal battle against P2P file sharing is about to be hit back by a group of developers who are about to release a pre alpha version of what they call anonymous P2P.

If this works as stated, then the authorities will have a very difficult job to prosecute users of this system. Organizations such as the RIAA, MPAA and BPI usually depend on usernames supplied by the ISPs.

The developers state that their goal is to allow freedom of speech in countries such as China where this is very limited. A global P2P network, codenamed darknet, will be the backbone of the new system.
