A 28-year-old Connecticut man has pleaded guilty of selling Microsoft's source codes for Windows 2000 and Windows NT. William Genovese Jr. is appearing in a federal court charged with property theft.
Genovese offered the source codes for sale on his personal Web site and was shortly nabbed in an operation that was run by an undercover FBI agent and a private operative hired by Microsoft when news of the source code sale reached the company.
Genovese now faces ten years in prison and a US$250,000 fine.
