Many cable TV companies in the U.S. have been shifting popular programs that once were on analog channels over to digital channels, which is raising the ire of some subscribers because of the added cost.

LaRonika Thomas in Chicago is upset because her Sci-Fi channel was moved to digital and was replaced by the Golf channel. I dont watch golf. I would rather have static on than that channel, she said.

The move would cost her at least another $20 a month for digital service. "Its an awfully big cost, said Thomas. I havent canceled my service yet, but I may. Eliminating analog frees up much more space and is very profitable for operators.
