Bush Chooses Possible NASA Chief - 03/15/05 01:27 PM

The Bush Administration has announced that it will nominate Dr. Mike Griffin as the next chief of NASA. Griffin is the current director of the Applied Physics Laboratory at Johns Hopkins University and is a rocket scientist.

Griffin is vocal in his support of President Bushs space plans, which include seeing man once again land on the moon, and even reach Mars in the long-term. If he is approved by the Senate as NASA chief, he will take over from Sean OKeefe.

Senator Barbara Mikulski said: "[He] has the right combination of experience in industry, academia and government service. He has a proven record of leadership and a passion for science and exploration. I welcome his nomination."
