When Microsoft recalled 14 million Xbox consoles last month, it failed to address the underlying problem. The power cords replaced feature an interrupter switch that trips power to the Xbox much like a household fuse.

The real problem is not with the power cords. Instead, the issue is with version 1.0 and 1.1 Xbox consoles with a Foxlink power supply. These power plants have solder points that wear out too easily. This issue was fixed in later versions of the Xbox

If you purchased your Xbox recently, you're most likely running a 1.6 version of the console. To determine your Xbox console version, visit the following: http://www.xbox-linux.org/
