I want to stream my mp3's off my computer. I was thinking, maybe i could have a playlist accessible over the internet (http not ftp) so someone could click a link to it and then it would play the mp3's that it calls for. I don't know if that would work, or how to make that one folder accessible over the internet. I don't want to stream through a website that will do it for me, I want to be able to stream whatever music I have on my computer by putting it in that folder and maybe updating a playlist or something. Any good ideas?
Yeah, that is probably what I will do. if i do it.
WWWinamp will allow for people to choose what song to play through http. Remember, you already have to have a shoutcast server up.

jw, what kind of connection should u have to stream audio?
reccommended: Broadband/DSL+
damn, i get 24k on a 56k modem... ok everyone... laugh
For all you online music streamers, Incase you havent read the news:
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/artic...ve/2002/02/21/BU118683.DTL&type=tech you now have to pay royalties of 14 cents for every song broadcast. Sorry to burst anyones bubbles.
don't use jewish sites, simple as that.
I haven't read the thing yet, but they can suck my [censored]. "I am only making mymusic accessible over the internet so that I can legally enjoy it from any computer with an internet connection"
How's that for bullshit disclaimer-ism?
Well i checked out Shoutcast ant i was thinking, really i want it to just stream from my computer to them, without going through the server. I don't plan on doing any of that "Everything is 128 kbps" or whatnot, just stream it. But also, an anonymous ftp for just that folder would be cool too. i am not familiar with any of this so that's why i need help.
umm... with shoutcast your computer = streaming server...
on the shoutcast site it said that it goes through their server first. With shoutcast can i just link to the stream so it doesn't go through their servers?
Just incase you guys would like to see WWWinamp in action,
http://radio.teamphreak.net employs it.
When the stream is up, it allows listeners to queue up whatever they like from the library.
CS, with shoutcast, you are the server, you don't have to make it go through their site, you can have it JUST as your server doing it. You need to download the shoutcast server and the shoutcast plugin for winamp.
And I don't like wwwinamp.
Well then...you just SSSuck!
ktnx Gizmo.
Also, I think i might try the ftp thing. Not sure if I should ask how I would make the one folder accessible anonymously through ftp....
/me flees the beating
nevermind, i was talking to sephy and he helped me.
